Question:
Why is Nanking Massacre openly discussed in China but Tiananmen Massacre is not?Graphic images of Nanking massacre are shown to kids in China but the image of Tank Man is unavailable on the Chinese Internet. Why does this happen?

Answer #1 |
Because Nanking was perpetrated by the Japanese and Tiananmen was perpetrated by their own government. Like most governments, China likes to scare their people with harsh enemies and minimize their understanding of the enemy at home.
In other words, propaganda.
Mind you, the Nanking massacre was arguably one of the nastiest events in modern history, so it may also correctly overshadow the Tiananmen Massacre.
